Missouri Lottery History

The Missouri Lottery was approved by passing Amendment 5, this vote passed with 70%. On June 11, 1985 Missouri Senate Bill 44 passes and the Missouri Lottery is born. "Jackpot '86" begins Missouri lottery sales and is the first instant game. Missouri's Lotto game begins with a minimum jackpot starting at $1 million

Missouri joins the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) on September 25, 1987. Lott America (a MUSL game) begins sales on February 3, 1988 after the U.S. Supreme Court approves Lotto America sales. On August 2, 1988 Missouri voters approve Amendment 3 which lifts several Lottery restrictions include restrictions on advertising and the maximum prize payout.
